Get to Know More About Physiotherapist Lynn Orsak!

Lynn has been working as a physiotherapist at Neumovement in Vernon for almost five years. She has now joined our Pandosy team in Kelowna and will be working out of both locations. We asked Lynn some questions so you can get to know her a little better!

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

Running, fastball, skiing, baking, and watercolour painting (a real mix, I know!)

What got you into physiotherapy?

People always ask me this question and I honestly can't remember! I guess it's just something I was meant to do!

When did you start working at Neumovement and what is your favourite part about working here?

I've been at Neumovement in Vernon for almost 5 years! I'm excited to spend some time with the Pandosy crew too. Our people are the very best and they make coming to work feel like coming home to family. I also think the mix of physio and Pilates is THE BEST rehab tool out there.

How would you describe your treatment style?

I use a big mix of hands-on styles with a functional goal in mind. The Integrated Systems Model, taught by Diane Lee, is an amazing framework for myself and my clients to find success quickly! For example, if you're a runner, I'll pick one or two tasks that fit within your running mechanics and help find the alignment and cueing that make that task feel better in your body. That's our starting point and as we get to know your body, we "peel back layers of the onion" to find the root cause of your issue and work together to fix it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Croatia and Costa Rica are at the top of my list. I love water and those two places have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! I love to go on adventures, but relaxing on the beach works for me too!

What is your favourite thing about your career?

I really love the detective work that comes with assessing a problem. It's the best feeling in the world to give someone an "a-ha moment" that helps them feel better and move better in their body. I'm also a connector and I appreciate how much time I get to spend getting to know my clients. P.S. Bringing my Therapy-Dog-In-Training Hank to work with me is a pretty great perk.

If you were a superhero what powers would you have?

I'd love to be able to teleport or have super speed. I love the Okanagan, but my family is back in the prairies and it would be amazing to be able to see them in the blink of an eye.

Do you have a favourite quote?

I always come back to Brené Brown in tough moments and I've borrowed a mantra from her: "Strong back, soft front, wild heart"
