PAULINA WEGRZYN
Registered Physiotherapist
BA. MScPT RYT-200
Hi all! My name is Paulina Wegrzyn and I was born and raised in London, Ontario. I completed my Master's of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto in 2019. Upon graduation, I was tempted by the Okanagan lifestyle and all it has to offer and decided to move out to the West Coast. Since then I have been rock climbing, cross country skiing, and paddleboarding to my heart's content.
Physiotherapy was a natural career choice for me as I enjoy empowering others, working with my hands, and learning about the human body and all of its intricacies (not being able to sit still was another important factor)! Since graduating I have completed my training in pelvic floor physiotherapy and have also become a 200-hour certified yoga instructor.
I enjoy working in a setting where active rehabilitation is an important component to an individual's recovery. Many of my former and current clients have found huge success by combining physiotherapy treatments with active-led pilates rehabilitation sessions.
FAVOURITE QUOTE TO LIVE BY
My personal mantra is “this will lead to beauty.” Often we are faced with hardships, obstacles, or tests of will that are beyond our control in our daily lives. We can’t control what faces us, but we can control how we react to those situations— with the right mindset and approach to meeting these challenges, we can make them lead to something beautiful.
WHY DO YOU LOVE NEUMOVEMENT?
NeuMovement’s approach to physiotherapy closely aligns with my own values and beliefs about the human body, as the clinic strives to pair manual therapy with targeted and specific exercise. I believe this combination is the key to optimal health outcomes and I love working in an environment that advocates for this balance of approaches! Beyond this, Neumovement is not a clinic but a community, one of which I am very fortunate to be a part of.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EACH DAY?
Each day I am motivated by the thought of empowering others to become the ambassadors of their own health. I believe that an effective physiotherapist does just this: provides an individual with the tools and assistance that they need to improve their own well-being. The thought of helping others along this journey is my main motivator, but this also goes hand in hand with my own self-improvement. Each interaction with a client or colleague will help me become a more effective and successful practitioner.
WHAT GOAL DO YOU STRIVE FOR WITH YOUR CLIENTS POST TREATMENT?
Post-treatment, I strive for two main things: an increase in client knowledge, and an improvement/reduction in symptoms. I aim for clients to have gained knowledge and awareness regarding their course of treatment, what I believe to be their primary problem or source of pain, and how this can and will be managed going forward with every visit. Additionally, a reduction in symptoms or pain indicates that we are on the right track in providing beneficial and effective treatment.
