Why did you want to work at Neumovement?

When I applied to Neumovement, I wanted to collaborate with a team to provide patient-centered care. I loved that NeuMovement had a clear passion for exercise, professional development, and movement. Moreover, I wanted to work at an evidence-based clinic that is always continuing to stay on top of research and Neumovement embodied that. Our team helps one another grow as clinicians and instructors, which makes it such a positive working, learning, and healing environment!

What made you want to become a physiotherapist?

Well, it is a bit of a long story. I suffered from multiple concussions in my teenage years but did not know there was treatment to heal and recover. In university, I volunteered at a concussion clinic and was able to witness patients get back to the sports and activities they love. I quickly fell in love with the idea of spending an extensive amount of time with patients and assisting them in reaching their goals and becoming symptom-free! I also have a passion for exercise and educating others in their recovery which ends up translating into my treatment quite easily. Every day I am telling someone how much I love this career.

How would you describe your treatment style?

I enjoy taking time to listen to every client and seeing everyone in a holistic way. This allows me to use education, exercise, and manual therapy techniques to help the client decrease their symptoms and return to their active lifestyles. I believe in helping our clients build a strong mind-body connection, and by doing so, provide them with tools they can consistently utilize to prevent further injuries from occurring. My aim is to empower my clients; to help them build the confidence and the strength to take ownership of their healing.

Where is the next place on your travel bucket list and why?

I would love to go to Greece! I want to explore the scenery and experience their culture.

My mom has also always wanted to go, and I would love to surprise her with a trip! In the meantime, my goal is to travel around BC and enjoy our own beautiful province. I was in Ontario for a few years and missed the mountains!

What's your favourite way to spend a day off?

I enjoy paddle boarding or hiking with my Aussie Collie Doodle! I also love reading or spending time with my family. We are extremely competitive when it comes to board games and card games.

Do you have any special skills we wouldn't know about?

I am Complete Concussion Management certified and have taken a CranioSacral Therapy course in order to help assist clients in treating their nervous system and decreasing symptoms.

Unrelated to work, I took voice lessons when I was younger and ended up going to provincials!

Do you have a favourite type of exercise?

I love most forms of exercise! I would say my favourite has to be hiking. I love getting up to those incredible Kelowna and Okanagan views.

Who or what inspires you in your career?

This may sound cliche, but my clients are my biggest inspiration. When I see them overcome their hardships, and see their pain decrease, it inspires me and is a huge part of what makes this job so meaningful. Being able to take part in someone’s recovery and healing journey is humbling and I find it extremely rewarding when clients are able to return to doing what they love.
